Snacks: Make them fit into your Weight Loss Plan

Snacking is something that many of us do on a daily basis. Whether we are at home watching a movie or at work waiting for our lunch hour to roll around, we are all guilty of snacking. However, snacking is not all that bad if you make wise choices. You can satisfy your hunger with something healthy and sustaining or you can satisfy your hunger with something fried and greasy. You can grab a bag of potato chips or you can grab a bag of whole grain crackers. Basically, if you make the right choices you may be surprised at just how beneficial snacking can be.

When it comes down to satisfying your hunger before lunch, remember that variety, moderation, and balance are the key points. You need to find snacks that are delicious and that will provide your body with the necessary nutrients and energy; basically, something that will suppress your appetite until lunch. Whole grains, fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and low fat dairy are some of the healthy snack options.

Whole grains are a wise choice for healthy snacking because they are rich in fiber and complex carbohydrates. These two compounds provide your body with energy and staying power. This means that you will feel more energized and less hungry during lunch which inevitably equals smaller meals. Fruit and vegetables are also great at sustaining your hunger. This particular food group makes you feel full without any added fat and with minimal calories. And as an added bonus, you get plenty of vitamins, minerals, and beneficial nutrients. Nuts and seeds on the other hand are loaded with beneficial protein. They also make you fell full longer; however, they are slightly high in calories. Therefore, when consuming this snack remember that moderation is key. And last but not least, try consuming more low fat dairy products when snacking. Dairy products provide your body with calcium, protein, vitamins, and minerals. Simply be sure that you chose the low fat or light versions of your favorite dairy treats.

So as you can see, healthy snacking is an option, all you have to do is make the right decisions when choosing your treats.
